Thorlabs' Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) is a general-purpose instrument that measures optical power of the light source
as a function of wavelength. This instrument is versatile enough to analyze broadband optical signals, the Fabry-Perot modes of
a gain chip, or a long-coherence-length single mode external cavity laser.
Commonly available OSAs are typically grating-based monochromators. The Thorlabs OSA is a Fourier Transform Optical Spectrum
Analyzer (FT-OSA), which utilizes a scanning Michelson Interferometer in a push/pull configuration.
This approach allows for the design of a full-featured OSA with the additional benefit of a high precision Wavelength Meter.
