The Model 830 is a highcurrent laser diode driver.CW or quasi-cw laser diodes requiring up to 50A drivecurrent at compliance voltage up to 6 VDC may be safely operated. Current control mode, transient suppression, and diode protection circuits are provided.
Adjustable current limit protects the laser diode from accidental overdrive. Individual controlsfor each electronic functionand a backlit meter enhance ease-of-use. Other user features include fault indicatorsfor current limit, open and short circuit, and remote interlock fault, and features for CDRH compliance, including 10-second delay, flashing emission indicator at turn-on, and manual reset after a remote interlock fault.
An internal pulse generator facilitates modulated cw operation or digital modulation of cw laser diodes. External triggering, as well as external analog modulation inputs are provided.Modulation rise-fall time is nominally 10 microseconds. Pulse width capability extends from 0.15 to 1000 ms, and repetition rate is variable from 5 to 500 Hz. TheReplica feature allows one Model 830 driver to control the pulse timing of other 830 units connected to the master unit, and allowsthe use of complex digital waveforms.
The Model 830 driver meets the requirements of 21 CFR 1040.10 laser safety regulations.
