With service environments ranging from the Arctic through to the desert and even into outer-space, all of the components of a high-grade FOG must continue to deliver their best performance over the broadest possible temperature range. HB-G has a unique, dual-layer, acrylate coating which provides all the low-temperature performance of a conventional, silicone-rubber coating – plus, the additional benefits of optical mode-stripping and total freedom from ‘crumbing’ during mechanical removal. Test coils have demonstrated extinction ratios of better than -27 dB over the entire temperature range of -55 oC to +85 oC. Thanks to the enhanced, static fatigue resistance instrinsic to 80 µm fibers, HB-G offers a ten thousand fold improvement in lifetime over comparable 125 µm fibers – enabling 25+ year lifetimes to be predicted, even for the smallest FOG coils
